A note about patience, from
Kevin, a man of *ultimate* patience...not.
Folks, PLEASE do not make your life
more difficult by scheduling your installation date
until ALL of the parts and pieces show up on your
doorstep. You laugh, but common sense is NOT common
practice! I ask you this as a friend, as invariably,
either the shipper, the vendor, or some other person
involved will make an error and throw your plan into a
tailspin. I get at least one e-mail a month from
someone who got impatient and started doing an install,
only to find out that they were missing something, or that
a vendor was backordered, or the shipper lost the box, or
something that throws off their schedule and their daily
driver is now torn apart in the driveway, awaiting a part
that's not to arrive for another few days. Don't be
that guy...you don't have ANY need for that sort of
stress, and there is little we can do on our end to assist
you if you're in this predicament...except maybe pass
along a recommendation for a good rental car company.
PLEASE don't put yourself into this situation! Your
loved-ones will thank me, lol.

Because
margins are so thin on shocks, you may find that we have prices
that are slightly more expensive than other "Shock Warehouse"
type of websites who move thousands of shocks per month.
However, here's what they DON'T offer: We are happy to do a
shock consultation for you
HERE,
(which the cost will be refunded to your card when you
purchase the shocks from us), making CERTAIN that you get shocks
that are best-suited for your budget, your application, your
height of lift, and your driving style. Sometimes customer
service is well-worth it's weight in gold. :-)
Here's how precise we have
gotten: we actually have a proprietary spreadsheet (that Kevin
made himself) which takes into account a particular shock's
stroke, whether or not you are using Bar Pins or Bar Pin
Eliminators, or Shock Loop Conversions, or whether or not your
factory springs have sagged, or your lift height is "not as
advertised", as well as a trigonometric variance for the rear
shocks being that they do not ride at a 1:1 ratio due to the
angle of the shock mounting position. With other websites,
If you order up what they tell you are "correct-length shocks
for a 3" lift" and bolt them on, only to find out that your
springs have sagged over time (all coils sag over time, but the
better brands have a different forming process which allows FAR
less sag than the cheapie dime-a-dozen $300 "lift kits" with
crappy springs do), you're going to have a VERY limited
upstroke, which means that you'll be bottoming the shocks out
regularly, damaging both the shock AND potentially the shock
MOUNTS as well, which are EXTREMELY difficult and expensive to
replace if you screw them up.
See, we don't go by shock length,
we use H2F measurements. Because "advertised lift height"
is not "TRUE lift height", in most cases, (and because some
Jeeps are heavier than others), you'll need to order shocks
based on the amount of TRUE lift, a.k.a. "H2F measurement" (Hub
to Fender-lip), measured from the center of the hub to the
bottom lip of the fender (click on the picture).
Measure
both right and left sides, and if they don't match, use the
height that is EXACTLY HALF-WAY between the two measurements (in
other words, add left and right, then divide by two, a.k.a.
"average") Once you have ascertained your H2F measurement
in both the front and the rear, order up the shocks you selected
below, and then e-mail us with
the H2F info, and we'll be happy to get a correct set of
shocks ordered up for you. If you are ordering a
lift kit at the same time, please order the kit up online
FIRST, and then make sure you let us know to
add the height of that kit to your current measurement.
Thanks!!
Also, click
HERE for some good information
about shock selection, and why you don't want to buy "cheap"
shock absorbers.

For reasons unbeknownst to me, Jeep
decided to change the upper and lower mounts on the rear
shocks from "standard", which has worked well for probably
50 years, to "WJ-style", which requires a smaller length
axle-side sleeve and longer length frame-side sleeve in
order to work with the stock mounts. When replacing
stock WJ shocks with aftermarket shocks, please order up a
WJ Shock Sleeve Kit, listed below for $17.97 (which comes
with four new bolts) so that you don't have
"thumps" going on back there. The part
number is KOR-1012 and comes as a set of four.
